Potoroo Palace – Native Animal Educational Sanctuary
Located 10 minutes drive from Merimbula, you’ll be amazed at all there is to learn about our native species – and there’s a wide range of fauna – everything from Bettongs to Pythons!
See a koala, wander among the kangaroos, touch a snake, stroll through the cooling mist of the walk-through aviary, go for a ride on the mini train or have lunch and a coffee at the Blue Wren Café.
You can get up close to our kangaroos, emus, peacocks and ducks who roam the park freely and hand feed them as well.

On the Perch
One for the bird lover’s, award winning On the Perch is an avian paradise with large walk-in aviaries and over 70 different types of birds on display, both Australian and exotic.
Featuring five exhibits (including three large walk-in aviaries), set up as regional-based habitats, plus a gift shop & cafe/coffee shop.
They are open 6 days – closed Wednesday’s but they do sometimes close due to weather conditions so check their facebook page for details on the day. It’s a great experience getting so close to the birds and some of the colours of the feathers are truly spectacular!
Merimbula Aquarium & Wharf Restaurant
Featuring 28 tanks along with a 70,000 litre oceanarium, view the great theatre of the deep with a visit to Merimbula Aquarium. With both tropical and local marine life the aquarium houses all kinds of sea creatures from sharks to shrimps!
Fish feeding always produces lots of action and is a great time to visit for more extensive information.
Fish Feeding Times 11.30am – Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 11.30am – Monday to Friday during school holidays
The Aquarium is open daily (except for Christmas Day) from 10am although they do close on Tuesdays during winter months.
Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre
The Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre is an exciting hands-on experience suitable for all ages. With a variety of interesting marine displays and live exhibits, the centre also offers outdoor programs and school holiday excursions including ‘snorkel safaris’ to local spots to learn more about marine life.
Plus marine arts & crafts during school holidays to keep creative little hands busy!
Open Monday to Friday – 10am to 3pm, and Monday to Saturday – 9:30am to 3:30pm during school holidays, you’ll find the discovery centre at Snug Cove Wharf in Eden, 20 minutes drive south of Merimbula.
Take the tour with the Fish Feeding talk at 12pm, Monday to Friday.
